Who am I? Who are you? What is this place?

Hi, all! My name is William. I’m glad you’re here at my site, A Profitable Read. Whether you’re here because I asked you to check out my blog, someone you know sent you this link, you stumbled upon this site in a Google search, or through divine intervention, welcome.

I’ve always been fascinated by history and the lessons we can learn from it. Whether it was trick-or-treating as Meriweather Lewis or William Clark, Johnny Tremaine or a Civil War soldier while my friends were Transformers or superheroes, or making Ken Burns-style documentaries about Nebraska history with friends in sixth grade, my love of history has always informed my pursuits.

As I matured, I began to see the connections between the past and the present, and a love for current events drove me to competitive debate. Now, I’m a student at the University of Nebraska at Omaha, and although I don’t dress up as historical figures or compete in debate tournaments (or even more entertaining: do both at the same time), that pursuit of understanding still drives me.

This site is a space to explore connections between the past and the present through the lens of business. Throughout history, the most influential and successful men and women made a habit of reading and writing. In this space, I hope to create a culture of mutual understanding and learning. I hope to share my thoughts and hear yours. I hope to engage in respectful disagreement and profitable discussion.

I hope this can be that space as we each embark, wherever we are in our journeys, on a continuing path of learning and deeper understanding.
